 Pastor's Class

The Pastor’s Class is offered for all children and youth who wish to learn more about the Christian faith, and, subsequently, to make their profession of faith and become members of Community.

The Pastor's Class will focus on understanding the rich meanings of:

Baptism

The Lord's Supper

Church membership

Service caring for one another inside the church and those outside the church's fellowship as well.

In each class meeting, we will discuss scripture lessons from the Bible and share insights about what it means to follow Jesus Christ. Also during the third session, members of Community’s Board of Elders will be present to share their journeys in faith (and stories of what it was like when they were baptized and became members of the church). We invite all parents and family members to be present at this or any other session.

Service projects will also be part of these Pastor's classes. Class members will participate in two options:

1.  Visiting ReStart, an impressive ministry with homeless persons, and

2.  Assisting with the "Living Last Supper" Dinner, in Centennial Hall.

The Pastor's Class will lead up to a time of decision when class members will make their professions of faith at the conclusion of either morning worship service. The whole community of faith will enjoy the celebration of the baptisms of class members during the 8:30 a.m. worship service in Community's chapel.

On-Going Service Projects

Community’s kids engage in a variety of service projects throughout the year. Projects such as selling buttons to raise money for September 11th or planting a garden are examples of the great work the kids do.

Acolyte Program

The Acolyte Program is a program of education, inspiration, and participation for children ages 6 – 12 years. "Acolyte" is derived from the Greek word akolouthos and designates one who is a devoted follower and who assists in the action of a worship service.

Community’s Acolyte program will involve the children in lighting the Lord’s Table candles each Sunday during our morning worship services. There will also be four acolyte training sessions throughout the year for the children to rehearse their responsibilities and to learn more about the rich and deep meanings of the various elements of worship.
