Front Porch Alliance

Working hand-in-hand to build a community of hope. . .
where the concern of one becomes the concern of all . . .

The Story:

The Front Porch Alliance is a non-profit faith partnership in the urban center of Kansas City that originated as a project to mark the 50th anniversary of the Village Presbyterian Church.  It quickly grew beyond the dreams of even the founders into a major effort that partnered with both urban and suburban churches in the metropolitan area as well as many social service agencies, civic groups, and city programs.

The mission is "to improve lives, build relationships and revitalize neighborhoods for all people who live in the community of 27th Street to 47th Street, from Paseo to Prospect, and for our faith partners."

The Front Porch Alliance works alongside the residents of this community, called Ivanhoe, as they seek to improve the livability of their neighborhoods.  In simple terms, the hope is for these neighbors to be able to take back their front porches so they may once again be used for the purpose for which they were built - a safe gathering place for children, for families, for neighbors, where hopes can be shared and dreams can be dreamed.

The front porch is a symbol of a viable, thriving neighborhood - the Front Porch Alliance joins Ivanhoe in the effort to make that a reality.
