Sharing communion with Community's homebound and shut-in members is one of the highest privileges and deepest pleasures that an Elder or member of the Diaconate can ever experience. The contact alone is worth more than words can say or riches can purchase. When you participate in the experience of communion with a homebound/shut-in member, you bring great joy and hope and you receive the same in return. By doing this good service, you are helping the Church to remember Christ's insistent teaching of care and kindness to all. And you are bringing a ray of warmth and light into the midst of what is sometimes a lonely and somber set of circumstances. On the other hand, you are likely to find that your shut-in recipients are the ones who minister to you, as they share their lives with you. Enjoy this relationship in all of its blessed richness and depth of feeling. And please know: your service is greatly and dearly appreciated.
